I have seen you to be at least a somewhat reasonable man in the past.
I want to discuss some things with you.  First, I want to tell you
that all hostilities have ceased (as you likely can see).  I can
also tell you that as far as I know absolutely no off-Usenet hostilities
of any kind are going on.  I can also assure you that I intend NEVER
to bring up the past or people not present any more in the newsgroups.

I believe that you should be satisfied and willing to listen to reason
regarding the Brad web site.

I have sensed that you have had it in mind to do good and help things
be good, although I have greatly disagreed with your methods and I
see the web sites as defamatory and libelous.  It seems to me that if
you have met your goals and believe all is well, you would want to do
what is necessary to make it most likely that things will continue to
be as you like them.  This is why I hope you will see that taking the
web sites down at some point will be what is necessary to facilitate
your goals continuing to be met.  Let me explain:

I have little doubt the the Science FAQ associated with Brad will be
posted sometime in December.  It seems to me that if all hostilities
have ceased and if there is no evidence of any hostilities of any kind,
it will serve EVERYONE (including you and your goals) best if the
web sites come down before December.  The reason is: that almost
invariably (without fail) the Science FAQ is responded to be someone
posting a link to http://www.lart.com/brad or your other web site.
It is difficult to refrain from a response to this which would be viewed
by you as hostile and unwanted.  To put it another way:  Almost always
after the Science FAQ is posted, though it is completely appropriate
in every way, someone posts the old nasty info. about Brad or a link
to one of your sites.  It seems difficult for people to resist replying
to this by siting OTHER OLD HISTORY, which includes information you
want out of the newsgroup forever.

In conclusion, by early December, I recommend you take the sites down.
I will show absolutely good faith and show no signs of any inappropriate
hostilities whatsoever.  I will do all that is within my power to make
sure no hostilites happen on or off of Usenet.  I can assure you that I
will do
nothing.  I believe if this good faith is shown from now until early
December, you should take the web sites down.  I believe if that good
faith can be shown, then it is likely you will have permanently met
your goals (at least as much as possible).

On the other hand, I believe it is highly unlikely to remain a totally
non-hostile environment in the newsgroup if your sites remain up.  As
your sites get mentioned again and again in response to appropriate on-
topic posts, it becomes inevitable that other old history is brought up.
Your sites thus GREATLY increase the likelihood of hostilities. <--
(Please read that last line again.)

I know everyone wants everything just on Usenet, on-topic, non-personal,
and current.  Your web sites violate all those characteristics.  If
good faith is shown, I beg you as a gentleman and as a person that
responds to some reason and as one who is supposedly seeking good, to
join me in burying old history, burying the
past, and getting rid of all hostilities both on and off of Usenet.

I shall look for a sign that you reciprocate this outlook by early
December.  After that, old history about people long gone from Usenet
shall be brought up ONLY in response to people citing your web pages
over and over.
At least this shall be my position.  In short, I am pledging to ignore
all other attacks against Brad.  Thus, if your web pages go down, I
am going to do absolutely everything I can to make sure that there
are no hostilities whatsoever anywhere related to any members (past or
present) of the spp newsgroup.  If your sites stay up, you can expect
a retaliatory response if people harp on them.
